MOUNTAIN RETREAT CABIN
Client requested a modest 3 room cabin with an open living plan a generous primary suite and a dual purpose guest area. The plan is loosely based on a Shotgun House design but the guest wing and primary wing are shifted to create an entry sequence and exterior patio spaces. The plan shifts, bookend the porch providing protection from weather and easy access from all three main spaces. The primary wing has large amounts of glass and faces west for sunset viewing. The guest wing is provided with a small office and fold out bed for the visiting grandchildren and the sun-room / guest room with Murphy bed.
The shifted linear plan is confined with a single skin able wrapper unifying the main living and private space. The Guest wing presents a more classic ranch house form. Project paused because of budget concerns after Schematic Design.
